Rachel Anderson

Rachel Anderson '04Rachel Anderson liked the Barney School so much as an undergraduate that she decided to come back for more. I received a very well-rounded education as an undergrad that prepared me to succeed in a wide variety of roles, Anderson says.

After majoring in entrepreneurial studies, she took a job as a consultant in the Complex Claims group for The Hartford, one of the largest investment and insurance companies in the United States.

The work is absolutely fascinating, Anderson says. Some of the claims involve thousands of people in cities and towns across the U.S. Anderson handles a variety of claims, including, asbestos, silica, lead paint, and diacetyl. The group puts great emphasis on out-of-the-box thinking and an entrepreneurial approach to our business.

Anderson’s next goal is to move into management, so she came back to the Barney School to get an MBA. I’m about halfway through the program right now, she says, and I’m really enjoying the experience. The professors make the classes very interactive and the students bring an amazing diversity of experiences and perspectives to the classroom.

Anderson’s involvement with the Barney School won’t end when she completes her MBA. I’m currently the student representative for the Board of Visitors for the Barney School, Anderson says, and I plan to stay involved with the school after I graduate. The Barney School has been very important to me and I would be proud to help shape its future.
