Financial Turmoil – Impact on the Insurance Industry

Financial turmoil has become an unwelcome aspect of American life, but what exactly is the effect on the insurance industry? What implication does the credit crisis and “bailout” plan have for the future?  What have we learned? What should we change? What is the outlook for 2009? This symposium will explore how the financial crisis impacts the insurance industry’s investments, capital adequacy, and risk appetite.

After an overview of the present situation, the issues will be addressed from the perspective of a representative from a rating agency, a state regulator, and an insurance company executive.
