Hawktober Weekend is the University's annual Homecoming and Parents Weekend and all are welcome to join! It's also the largest Reunion of the year, with many alumni returning to campus to gather with classmates and relive fond memories. Maybe Hawktober wasn't a tradition when you were at UHart, but it sure is now!

Instant Accents—The art of learning accents and dialects taught by Hartt Associate Dean for Evaluation and Student Success Robert Davis of the Hartt Theatre Division. Quick and fun introduction to what it takes to talk like someone else.

Art & Exhibits  PRESSED: Celebrating 40 Years of the Hartford Art School Print Workshop
1–5 p.m., Joseloff Gallery
This year, the Hartford Art School (HAS) honors the 40th anniversary of its annual printmaking workshop. The 40th Anniversary Exhibition, marking the first event of a year-long celebration, features a collection of exceptional prints from the HAS archives.

  The Hartt School Paranov Day Pop-In: A Path 2
2–3 p.m., Gray Center Lawn
An original piece for two percussionists, composed by David Macbride and Jesey Meche, to be performed by Devon Cupo and Anthony Soscia outside the Gray Center. The performers will notate the music from one end to the other on the brick path which runs diagonally across the Gray Center Lawn. At approximately 2:30 p.m., they will perform the piece while walking the path in reverse.

  The Hartt School Paranov Day Pop-In: World Music Movement Workshop
2:30–3:30 p.m., Sukman Foyer, Fuller Music Building
Learn about the Kodály Ear Training curriculum at The Hartt School, which is founded in folk music of all cultures, by attending this audience participation world music and movement workshop led by Hartt Associate Dean for Programs and Academic Innovation Donna Menhart.

Get an up close and intimate experience with the process of professional choreography being set on Hartt Dances' extraordinary artists in the studio setting.

3:30–4:30 p.m., Millard Auditorium, Fuller Music Building
Stop by to enjoy a performance by The Hartt School's large brass ensembles consisting of 15 players representing all of the brass instruments performing music of all styles, led by Associate Professor of Trumpet Phil Snedecor.

Let the rhythm move you at this interactive/hands-on Brazilian percussion music session, presented by Ben Toth, professor of percussion.

Events across the country, in our communities, and on campus have highlighted the systemic inequalities people of color regularly face. Together we'll talk about how to find your voice and take action in the current political and cultural climate.

Panelists: Latosha Johnson '98, Wanda Ramos M'15, and Jolie Rocke Brown '89.
Microaggressions have been defined as the everyday insults, indignities and demeaning messages sent to people of color by well-intentioned people unaware of the hidden messages they are sending. Recent studies suggest the accumulated impact of these stressors can seriously affect long-term health. In this session, we will share our experiences with unconscious bias and learn about strategies to adapt to overcome these hurdles.
