2008 Alumni Awards
The selection committee wishes to ensure that it has the most comprehensive slate of qualified nominees. Therefore, nominations are invited from the University community, including deans, faculty, and alumni, according to the following guidelines:
Anchor Award
The ship's anchor located on the University campus has a rich history. Originally positioned on the USS Hartford, the flagship of Admiral David G. Farragut, the Anchor now represents a longstanding tradition of the University of Hartford.
The Anchor Award is the most prestigious award presented by the University of Hartford Alumni Association. The awards were established to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves by acheiving the highest level of professional accomplishments and who possess absolute standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of The University of Hartford.
Two Anchor Awards are given from each school/college. Individuals must be a graduate of one of the schools/colleges, or predecessor institutions, of the University of Hartford.
One of the two awards for each school or college will be presented to an alumnus/a who is under 40 years of age.
Humanitarian Service Award
This award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding meritorious contributions of state, national, or international significance to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of human welfare. Recipients have demonstrated exceptional dedication to selfless service and have taken personal responsibility for serving the communities in which they live.
