Mary SilviaMary Silvia has dedicated the last six years to SeriousFun Children’s Network, a global network of camps and programs that provide opportunities for children living with serious illnesses and their families. She has been the associate director for SeriousFun’s Global Partnership Program since February.

Silvia began her time at SeriousFun working on application and grant tracking for the organization’s 30 camps. She then continued her efforts expanding the work of the Global Partnership Program, introducing camp as an effective model for psychosocial interventions. Alongside colleagues from partner non-government organizations throughout Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean, she provides on-the-ground leadership training and technical support for the camp programs, which bring life-changing experiences for children living with HIV and AIDS.

While living in New Haven, Conn., she served as a volunteer coach and fundraiser for Girls on the Run of Greater New Haven, a youth empowerment program for girls ages 9–11.

Silvia earned her bachelor’s degree from UHart’s Barney School of Business in 2011. She was a member of the Hartford Hawks women’s basketball team, Beta Gamma Sigma international business honor society, and Alpha Chi national honor society. Silvia resides in Medford, Mass.
