Spring 2013 Seminars

Workshops and seminars are generally held in the Woods Classroom located in Mortensen Library or, if facilities are available, at a location within a particular department, school, or college. Faculty interested in attending should please call (860)768-4661 or e-mail fcld@hartford.edu to register.

Blackboard

Getting Started with Blackboard – Every Tuesday
Tuesdays, 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
FCLD Faculty Lab or Woods Classroom (Mortensen Library)
Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with computers and the Internet.
In this general orientation to Blackboard, you'll learn strategies for organizing your Blackboard course, review the many tools and features available in Blackboard and start adding content such as a syllabus to your Blackboard course. Be sure to bring digital versions of your syllabus or other course documents; this hands-on seminar is designed to get you up and running on Blackboard!

PLEASE NOTE: The Blackboard Learning Management System will be unavailable on Monday, May 20th for a scheduled upgrade and maintenance.

Instructors and other campus members will find several minor changes to existing Blackboard tools and features. FCLD strongly encourages instructors currently using Blackboard to become familiar with these and other enhancements, especially if they are teaching fully online or blended courses. 

To help with this process, FCLD will be offering informational sessions throughout May and the summer months. All sessions will be held in the Woods Classroom of Mortensen Library.  This is not a series, so feel free to pick just one that fits your schedule:

• Tuesday, July 23, 11:00 to 12:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 7, 4:00  to 5:00 p.m.
• Thursday, August 15,  3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
• Monday, August 19, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
