Her broad research interest in the history of political thought concerns the foundations of community in the individual's self-understanding as a moral and political being, and considers how the individual navigates this self-understanding as it relates to the broader social world. She is currently at work on a book-length project on Socratic friendship, with an emphasis on Socrates' relationship to the Athenian general Alcibiades.
