Minor in Art History

As of Fall 2013, the Art History Department is being  transitioned to the Hartford Art School.


As with the Art History B.A., students receive a sound basis in the history of Western Art and in at least one area of Non-Western art. They complete concentrated study in three major areas of art at the 300-level. They learn writing, reading, and research skills and are prepared to teach art history at the K-12 levels.

Requirements: 18 credits

    6-9 credits at the 200-level: including ART 215 or ART 216
    9-12 credits at the 300- or 400-level, to be distributed among three content areas:
        Ancient or Medieval
        Renaissance, or Baroque and Enlightenment
        Modern or Contemporary
        Non-Western (African, Asian, Mesoamerican, Islamic, Native American or other)
