Dr. Zhu joined the department in 2009. He is an invited reviewer for a number of journals including Aquatic Ecology, American Naturalist, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Journal of Aquatic Plant Management, Journal of Ecology, Journal of Great Lakes Research and was a Board Director of the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society from 2007 to 2010.

Research Interests

Dr. Bin Zhu’s research focuses on several ecological and environmental issues. First, he studies ecology and management strategies of invasive species including zebra mussels, European frogbit, Eurasian water milfoil, and fanwort. Second, he investigates anthropogenic impacts on water quality, specifically water pollution associated with excessive nitrogen and phosphorus, chemical waste, and heavy metals. Additionally, Dr. Zhu is interested in studying diversity and distribution of aquatic macrophytes and interspecific interactions in aquatic plant communities.
