Celebrating 60 Years-Highlights of Our Sixth Decade

The University of Hartford began its 60th year on February 21, 2017 with a “Where’s Walt” scavenger hunt and birthday cake in the Commons. On this page, we’re sharing photos and a video about the day as well as some interesting and exciting University accomplishments that happened from 2007 to 2017. It’s not a comprehensive list but it is sure to spark some memories.

In the first two weeks of our 60th year, we are adding one year per day.

University hosts first ever combined men’s and women’s America East tournament

March 4-7 – Basketball players, coaches, and fans from throughout the Northeast will converge on the University of Hartford campus this week, as the University hosts the America East Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Newman’s Own.  Read More


Alum wins amazing race

May 9 – Pious came to the University of Hartford on Sunday (May 16) to celebrate his girlfriend’s graduation. Just one week earlier, on Sunday, May 9, television viewers saw Pious and his brother, Jordan, win first place and a $1 million prize after racing around the world on the popular CBS television show, The Amazing Race.  Read More


Summerbridge becomes an annual program

July – The students participated in Hillyer’s Summer Bridge program, which is designed to give students a head start in their transition to college life.  Read More


First-year students do “Our Campus, Our Planet” program

Aug. 30 – Members of the Class of 2014 took part in a day of outdoor activities, lectures, discussions, and films focusing on the environment Monday, at the University’s first “Our Campus, Our Planet” program.  Read More

Oct. 31 – William Jefferson Clinton became the first former or current U.S. President ever to visit the University of Hartford campus when he came to the University's Sports Center on Sunday Oct. 31, to rally about 2,000 Connecticut Democrats to go out and vote in the Nov. 2 mid-term elections.  Read More
